Pattern #2:     A is More+adjective than B

The Rules:

1) Adjectives ending with a consonant after a vowel sound take "er" (neat-->neater)

2) Monosyllabic adjectives ending with a single consonant after a single or short vowel double the last consonant and add "er" (Hot-->Hotter)

3)Adjectives ending in a "y" change the "Y" to "i" and add er. (Happy-->happier...dry-->drier)

4) adjectives that are also the past participle of a verb and end in "D" take "more" (bored-->more bored)

5) Adjectives that have 2 or more syllables and to which none of the conditions above apply also take "more" (Beautiful-->more beautiful)
